Marlon McClinton
is Member, Gas Operations Innovation Alliance and President & CEO
of Utilivate Technologies.
McClinton leverages over twenty five years of experience and leadership
in R&D performance, management, and commercialization for the energy/utility
industry and residential, commercial, and industrial markets, including
Vice President Mr. McClinton was directly responsible for leading and managing government funded programs exceeding $50 million while, simultaneously, building a separate, privately funded $40 million business over a five-year period. Broad areas of program focus included: LDC and pipeline operations, storage, environmental technology, end-use equipment development, power generation, and basic or emerging technology research. As executive manager at GTI, Mr. McClinton led and participated in energy/utility forums involving the highest levels of executive participation. Mr. McClinton convened and chaired a Program Executive Committee of energy/utility companies and the Municipal Gas Systems Advisory Committee. Mr. McClinton was a member of AGA’s Managing Committee and the primary energy industry representative to the Common Ground Alliance (a consortium of electric, gas, telecommunication, railroad, and other companies to avoid damage to underground infrastructures). The above committees addressed and made industry decisions on policy, regulatory matters, and research funding issues regarding all aspects of utility operations. In 2001, Mr. McClinton co-chaired an industry committee that developed a comprehensive report defining the research needs and priorities of the natural gas industry. Mr. McClinton served on the editorial board of Pipeline & Gas Industry magazine and contributed periodic articles on energy/utility policy and research issues. Mr. McClinton is a recognized and noted speaker on these topics. Mr. McClinton’s current duties as President & CEO of Utilivate Technologies require him to interact frequently with thought leaders of the energy/utility industry. In addition, as Member of the Gas Operations Innovation Alliance (i.e., the Alliance), Mr. McClinton is charged with interfacing with researchers in literally every segment of the global marketplace, both public and private. Mr. McClinton has both undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Mr. McClinton serves as Adjunct Professor of Management and Marketing at Northeastern Illinois University. In addition, McClinton is a member of the Product Development & Management Association (PDMA) and American Gas Association.
