Jim Fay is President of North Star Energy Group and is a Member of the Gas Operations Innovation Alliance. Mr. Fay has over twenty-four years experience in the natural gas industry. His responsibilities have emphasized R&D project management, R&D strategic planning and analysis, and business and market analysis for new product development. Mr. Fay most recently was a founding member of the Gas Operations Innovation Alliance. The Alliance produces a new information service to monitor developments in innovation related to gas distribution operations. Since 1985, Mr. Fay has been involved in making natural gas R&D more productive for the gas industry and its customers. At the Gas Research Institute, he initiated and managed both the Gas Operations and Gas Transmission Technology Analysis Programs. These programs were part of the Strategic & Technology Analysis Group, which provided independent analysis of R&D program opportunities, direction, commercialization avenues, and benefits. Mr. Fay created,
launched and became founding principal for a for-profit joint venture
(between the Gas Research Institute and the Electric Power Research
Institute) to provide energy market intelligence and analysis for energy
utilities and related companies in the energy industry. In 2002, Primen
became a solely-owned subsidiary of EPRI. Mr. Fay left Primen Mr. Fay has authored
more that 50 industry reports and invited papers on technology markets
and value creation in the energy industry. Fay holds BS degrees in Geology
and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and University
of Illinois, respectively.
